I tried a Kundalini yoga class last week (my first time) and I honestly wasn’t expecting it to feel THAT intense. The movements didn’t look super hard, but between the fast breathing, holding weird arm positions, chanting, and the long still moments… I got really hot, my heart was racing, and after class I felt kind of emotional and spaced out. Not in a bad way exactly, just… a lot.
So what makes Kundalini yoga feel intense compared to other styles? Is it mostly the breathwork, or is there something about the sequences? Also, is it normal to feel lightheaded or teary after? I want to keep practicing but I also don’t want to push myself into something unsafe.
