Hi everyone, I keep hearing the term “yoga therapy” and I’m a bit confused about what it actually means. I go to a normal vinyasa class once a week and I like it, but I also have recurring neck/shoulder tension from working at a laptop all day, plus stress that messes with my sleep.
When people say yoga therapy, is it like a medical treatment? Or just a gentler yoga class? Do you need a diagnosis or a doctor referral? I’m not looking for miracles, I just want something more targeted than a general group class, and I’d love to understand what to expect (session structure, breathing, talking, etc.).
If you’ve tried it, how is yoga therapy different from regular yoga? And how do you choose a legit practitioner?
