I keep hearing teachers say “practice self-compassion” but I’m not totally sure what it means in real life. I started yoga mainly for stress and tight shoulders, and I notice I’m super hard on myself in class (like: not flexible enough, can’t balance, comparing to others). Sometimes I even feel guilty if I take child’s pose.
So what is yoga for self compassion, exactly? Is it a specific style, or more like an attitude? And how do you practice it when your brain is basically bullying you during poses? I’d love concrete examples (breathing cues, mantras, things you tell yourself) that actually help.
