Hi everyone 🌿 I keep seeing the phrase “yoga for conscious breathing” and I’m not sure what it actually means in practice. Is it just “breathing slowly” while you stretch, or is it a specific technique like pranayama?
For context: I started doing gentle yoga at home to help with stress and tension in my shoulders. I noticed that when I get anxious I kind of hold my breath without realizing it. In class the teacher says “come back to your breath” and I get confused because I don’t know what I’m supposed to change (deeper? slower? through the nose?).
If anyone can explain what conscious breathing in yoga is, and maybe a simple way to practice it without overthinking, I’d really appreciate it. Also: any beginner mistakes to avoid?
