Hi everyone 💜 I’ve been doing yoga on and off for a couple years (mostly vinyasa classes), but lately I keep hearing teachers mention “bhakti yoga” and “devotion.” I get the vibe that it’s not just poses, but I’m honestly not sure what it means in a practical way.
I’m not super religious, and I don’t want to feel like I’m joining something I don’t understand. At the same time, the idea of practicing with more heart and less “achievement mode” sounds really healing for me.
So… what is the philosophy behind bhakti yoga? Is it about worship? Love? Surrender? And how does someone actually practice it day-to-day without feeling fake or performative?
Would love your perspectives (and if there are beginner-friendly ways to explore it).
