Hi everyone 🌿 I’ve been doing yoga for a few months (mostly YouTube + one weekly class) and I keep hearing teachers mention “opening the heart chakra” or “balancing the chakras.” I get that it’s not literally a physical organ, but I’m confused about what chakras *mean* in yoga and how seriously people take it.
Is it more like a symbolic map for emotions and attention? Or is it an “energy” thing connected to breath? Also, how do you actually work with chakras in a normal class—through poses, pranayama, meditation, or something else?
I’d love a clear explanation (without too much hype). Thank you 💜
