Hi everyone 🪻 I keep seeing “somatic yoga” on YouTube and in studio schedules, but I’m still not sure what it actually is. Is it basically like slow yoga? Or more like therapy / nervous system stuff?
For context: I work at a laptop all day, my shoulders are always up to my ears, and I get that tight lower back feeling when I’m stressed. I’ve done a bit of vinyasa, but sometimes it makes me feel like I’m just pushing through shapes instead of listening to my body.
So what is somatic yoga exactly, how does it work, and what would a typical session feel like? Also, is it beginner-friendly if you’re not flexible? I’d love real experiences, not just marketing words 😅
