Hi everyone, I’ve been doing yoga for about 2 years (mostly vinyasa and some handstand drills) and I started acro yoga classes a few months ago. I’m comfortable with the basics like front bird, throne, some simple transitions, and I can base a bit or fly depending on the partner.
Now I keep hearing people in class mention “advanced acro yoga techniques” and I’m not sure what counts as advanced vs just “hard.” Is it mainly bigger tricks (like pops and washing machines), or is it more about control, breath, and clean technique?
Also: what are the typical prerequisites (strength, flexibility, timing, spotting) before attempting advanced skills? I don’t want to rush or get injured, but I’d love a clear idea of what to work toward and what to learn next.
If you can, please describe a few examples of advanced techniques and what makes them advanced, plus any safety tips or progressions. Thanks!
