Hi everyone 💜 I’m new-ish to acro yoga (I’ve done regular vinyasa for a year). My friend and I tried a beginner workshop last weekend and I was surprised by how emotional it felt. Like… I’m usually independent, but being lifted made me realize I’m not great at letting someone support me. We did a few basic things (bird, some counterbalance, and spotting drills) and I kept overthinking: “What if I fall? Am I too heavy? Am I doing this wrong?”
People always say acro yoga “builds trust between partners,” but I’m curious what that actually means in practice. Is it just because you have to rely on each other physically, or is there something deeper (communication, boundaries, breath, etc.)? Also how do you build trust safely without pushing past your comfort zone?
Would love to hear your experiences, especially with beginner-friendly tips on trust, cues, and how to not spiral in your head.
