Hi everyone, I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for about a year (mostly YouTube flows and a weekly studio class when I can). I can follow most beginner sequences, but I feel stuck: some poses feel impossible (like deeper hip openers, binds, and any arm balance), and I’m not sure what “advanced in yoga” even means.
I’m not trying to show off, I just want to feel stronger, calmer, and more confident on the mat. I also notice that when class gets hard I hold my breath and my mind gets noisy. How do you actually become advanced in yoga in a realistic way? Is it about flexibility, strength, breath, meditation, or all of it? And what should I focus on week to week so I’m not just randomly repeating flows?
Any advice (and honest reality checks) appreciated.
