Hi everyone 🌿 I’ve been practicing yoga on and off for about a year, mostly YouTube vinyasa and a couple of studio classes. A friend invited me to a Jivamukti class and it sounded… intense? Like there’s chanting, a lot of philosophy, sometimes music, and some people said it’s more of a “lifestyle” thing.
My question is: how different is Jivamukti yoga from traditional yoga? I don’t want to be disrespectful, and I’m also not sure what “traditional” even means in this context (Hatha? Ashtanga? Yoga Sutras?).
I’m looking for something that helps me with stress and focus, but I also like a good workout. If you’ve tried Jivamukti, did it feel authentic, or more like a modern remix? What should a beginner expect in a first class?
