I’ve been doing yoga on and off for about 6 months (mostly YouTube flows + one studio class when I’m brave enough 😅). Physically I feel better, but what I’m really hoping for is emotional resilience.
Like… I don’t necessarily want to “never feel stress,” I just want to bounce back faster. Lately I get overwhelmed by small stuff (work messages, family drama, random bad news) and it takes me hours to come down. I’m also noticing I hold tension in my jaw and chest when I’m upset.
So my real question: can yoga actually improve emotional resilience over time, or is that more of a meditation/therapy thing? If it can help, what practices made the biggest difference for you (breathing, certain styles, consistency, journaling after class, etc.)?
I’m not looking for miracle claims—just honest experiences and what’s been realistic for you. Also totally open to “yoga helped but I still needed therapy” type answers.
