Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’ve dealt with social anxiety for years (especially groups, gyms, speaking up, even walking into a room and feeling like everyone’s watching). I’m not looking for a “cure”, just something that makes daily life easier.
I keep seeing yoga recommended for anxiety and confidence, but I’m also anxious about the yoga class itself: being stared at, not knowing what to do, breathing loudly, shaking, not being flexible, etc. I’ve tried a couple YouTube videos at home and I do feel calmer after, but I don’t know if that translates to real-life situations.
So… can yoga help with social anxiety in a realistic way? If yes, what styles or practices helped you most (breathing, yin, vinyasa, meditation)? And how do you handle the “being around people” part when that’s the trigger?
(Also I’m open to therapy too, I just want extra tools.)
