Hi everyone. I’m wondering if yoga can help with chronic pain, and I’d love real experiences (not miracle claims). I’ve had persistent lower back and neck pain for a couple of years (office job + stress + not sleeping great). Some days it’s a dull ache, other days it flares and I get scared to move because I don’t want to make it worse.
I’ve tried physio on and off, basic stretching from YouTube, and short walks. It helps a bit but I’m inconsistent, and the pain makes me feel tense all the time. Friends keep telling me “do yoga” but I don’t know what style is actually safe or useful for chronic pain, and I’m worried about pushing too hard or doing poses wrong.
If yoga helped you with chronic pain (back, neck, hips, headaches, anything), what changed? Was it the stretching, the breathing, the relaxation, building strength? Any beginner-friendly tips or red flags? I’m not looking for medical advice, just guidance and what to ask a teacher/doctor.
